Tire Sidewalls

Sidewalls are essentially the spring of a tire and require excellent resistance to flex fatigue even down to sub-zero temperatures, abrasion resistance due to kerbing and low energy  dissipation due to the contribution to rolling resistance. A typical sidewall formulation contains a blend of natural rubber and high cis Butadiene Rubber.

The LANXESS Buna® CB and Buna® Nd EZ portfolio contains high cis 1,4 Butadiene Rubbers using both Neodymium and Cobalt catalysts. These rubbers impart excellent resistance to flex fatigue and due to the very low glass transition temperatures also offer excellent low temperature flexibility, excellent abrasion resistance and reduced energy dissipation.
